On the Easel - painting for Exodus Road silent auction

Working on a large painting to go into a silent auction at a benefit dinner for Exodus Road.
This organization is so great - it utilizes the talents of retired or ex detectives, policemen, ect and send them around the world equipped with top notch surveillance equipment and rescues children trapped in slavery.
Please take the time to check out their website and see what they are doing to free these children.

8x10 acrylic on canvas
I am going for the bold colors right now.
This seagull stands out nicely against the blue-green sea.
Most people I know do not like seagulls - (noisy, bothersome birds!), but ever since I was a kid I always liked them.  I liked their white, grey and black colors, and they seemed to be symbolic of the sea to me.

Buoys Painting

Maine Buoys
9x12 acrylic on canvas

I LOVE the color in this scene.
The work-worn, scratched-up condition of these buoys take a close second.
Summer color at its best....

On the Watch

  12x12 acrylic on stretched canvas
I like the way this seagull is perched on the rock, with his head turned.  He seems to be content, just chilling out with his two little seabird friends; yet true to seagull nature, is also on the watch.  I painted this from a photo my sister took while walking along the coast of Maine one beautiful summer morning.
