Maine Lobster Fisherman

12x12 acrylic on stretched canvas
I enjoyed painting this scene of a Maine fisherman, hard at work, bringing in his catch. I snapped several pictures of this boat last summer as it pulled into harbor and up to the dock to unload.  I love the colorful baskets and buckets, the coveralls, and the bright blue bands of the lobsters in this scene.  After some research on the boat's name, I found out that the men that own it supply lobster to one of the local restaurants there.  The whole time I was painting, I had my oldest son, Brent, on my mind; thinking about how much he loves to fish, and how he would much rather be fishing than sitting in a college class right now!
