Middle School Art - Endangered Animals

 Endangered Animals and
Elements of Composition

I developed a lesson
where 7th grade art students learned about
the science of conservation
while also learning how to use art
 to advocate for a cause.

The students chose an endangered
animal and learned about its conservation ranking and the issues surrounding its failure to thrive
in the wild.
Then they designed a composition
that created emphasis on the animal
while achieving asymmetrical balance
and movement.

Students were proud of their work
and gained valuable insight into
what different organizations and artists
around the world do to advocate
for the conservation of these animals.
