Beach Rock Sculpture Painting

9x12" acrylic on Ampersand Gessoboard
One day a friend and I played a little "hooky" from life, and decided that
the beach was the best way to spend our free time.  We played around with rocks on the beach, both making different rock sculptures for fun.
This is a painting of my friend's sculpture. Mine was so simple, it was essentially just stacked rocks - something a kindergartner could do.
(possibly a reflection of the "burnout" of too much work!)
Anyway, I always enjoy coming across one of these sculptures,
whether it's out on a mountain hike or at the beach.  It signifies that someone took a little time for intelligent play...  a little time out to study nature and leave an art form for others that will eventually fall back into place, as if it were never there.
